Visit by FSASA to “Collective Haunt” on Saturday June 26, 2021

18 Members of Friends SASA, together with several Board members, attended and were treated to a wonderful visit to “Collective Haunt” studios at 68 The Parade, Norwood SA. 22 artists work in the studios where one can see the creative activity and a great variety of works emerging.

Three students - Kathy, Cameron and Callum - who are all studying at UniSA Creative/ SASA also attended and it was great to have them join us. We hope to see them again as well as some of their peers.

“Collective Haunt” is an artist-run initiative, a not for profit organisation, containing 15 studio spaces where its doors opened to the public in March 2018.

Jane Skeer, an energetic and capable leader, initiated the establishment of the collective and each artist renting the studio spaces can come and go as they please, working to their own structure and timetable.

Nicola Semmens, Secretary of Friends SASA Board, is one of the leading artists and her studio is full of her latest landscape creations. She also has a display of her these stunning exhibition works downstairs as you enter the facility.

What a great inspiration it must be for all to work amongst such creative people and how fortunate were we to see these studios and meet some of the artists!

A gallery space within the building is available for hire on a monthly basis, where the focus is on supporting a diverse range of artistic talent through its studio and exhibition program.

A very heartfelt “thank you’’ to Jane and Nicola for hosting such a wonderful and inspiring visit for us.

If you were unable to join us this time, you can visit in the future as the gallery and studio spaces are open to the general public. Don’t forget to mention you are a member of Friends SASA. We feel certain you will be made to feel very welcome, as we all were.
