Bio

Deborah has been involved in Art education in South Australia for over 42 years, and, semi-retired, is continuing her commitment to mentoring students and education generally by working with Uni SA to supervise Undergraduate students on their placements in school experiences. Deborah never misses an opportunity to get involved in activities that strengthen her understanding and appreciation of contemporary art and loves nothing more than experimenting with painting techniques.

Deborah holds the following formal qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Educational Leadership – (Australian Catholic University) 2007

  • Bachelor of Education – 1984 (Adelaide College of Advanced Education)

  • Diploma of Teaching – 1978 (Torrens College of Advanced Education)

Having recently joined the Board of FSASA, Deborah is enjoying renewing old acquaintances and taking on some new challenges.

Throughout her teaching career, primarily in the private education sector, Deborah has enjoyed seeing students thrive and she has maintained contact with a number of former students who have gone on to pursue careers in the Arts.

Deborah pursues a wide range of interests beyond the Arts but will always remain passionate about the visual arts in particular. Highlights of “art travels” are visiting Monet’s garden at Giverny, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Tate St. Ives and the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.

Currently Deborah is looking forward to more travel and following in her parents’ footsteps as “grey nomads”, visiting country galleries and beautiful places of interest provided by Mother Nature.
