Brian Budgen
Bio
Brian received his art education from the South Australian School of Art (now part of the University of South Australia) gaining a Diploma of fine Art, majoring in painting with Geoff Wilson, Tony Bishop, Ian Chandler and Cecil Hardy. He also received the only distinction in a three - year life drawing course undertaken prior to his full - time art studies, under Dora Cant, George Tetlow and Peter Schultz.
Interested in teaching art, he completed post graduate studies in Art Education at Adelaide College of the Arts and Education and undertook a teaching career.
Brian has juggled a long career in art teaching with his own practice as an artist, having taught in many public and private schools and tertiary art institutions in this state. He now feels it is time to concentrate on his career as a full time practicing artist.
Brian has also spent many years designing and painting sets for professional and amateur theatre.
Brian is a founding member of the Friends of the South Australian School of Art.
Brian has painted many prominent Adelaidians including Kym Bonython, Bishop Ian George, Jane Lomax Smith, Peter Goers, artist Deborah Miller, artist Evelyn Roth and retired businessman Napier Brown
Brian Retired from teaching in 2012 from Scotch college.
